UFC on ESPN 9: Woodley vs Burns Best Bet

Fight night is upon us once again come Saturday night and what a time it’s going to be.

As Former welterweight champ Tyron Woodley and surging contender Gilbert Burns battle in the cards main event, we should keep our popcorn close on Saturday night.

Although the main event should be fireworks, the rest of this card is kind of abnormal or weird. You got Kaitlyn Chookagian fighting Antonina Shevchenko after being defeated in her last fight by Antonina’s sister, Valentina. Then there is the multiple veteran vs prospect fights; Smolka vs Kenney and Elliot vs Royval.

Honestly these things could be a recipe for a night full of brawls.

As usual I’ll be posting my full fight picks on Twitter @thiskid_coby5 and also @smoke_sports1 for Nick’s picks and just plain entertainment during fight night.

Roosevelt Roberts -350:

Before you read this and ask why I put such a huge favorite in this article let me explain. First off, to me this is my lock of the night. Roberts stylistically is a good matchup against Brok weaver. Weaver got beat up in his UFC debut and only came out victorious due to DQ via an illegal knee. Roberts is 3-1 in the UFC fighting higher quality than Weaver. Also, Roberts is the more technical fighter while Weaver tends to be the brawler type. Roberts should be able to simply outclass the bare knuckle brawler whether that is for 15 minutes or however long the fight last. There is really only one way weaver wins this fight and that’s by KO, which obviously is possible it’s cage fighting. Overall, if you're a gambler you probably want to find something to parlay this with unless u have stacks of money to play with.

Rodriguez vs Green U1.5 -120:

In a combined 23 fights between Daniel Rodriguez and Gabriel Green they have been to a total of two decisions. Rodriguez has just a single UFC fight under his belt and has the advantage in experience and skill in my opinion in this fight. Both fighters have great Jiu-Jitsu games which will most likely make this a stand up war and a fan favorite too. This is a matter of two guys being relentless finishers and that’s what people want to see. There really isn’t much to my reasoning other than that these two guys finish fights. This should be a good one, it will only be a matter of time until the fight ends from the touch of the gloves.
