UFC 267 Blachowicz vs. Teixeira: Coby's Plays

The UFC returns to Fight Island in Abu Dhabi this weekend with a banger of a card.

In the main event, UFC light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz, defends his strap for the second time as he meets Brazilian veteran, Glover Teixeira. Co-headling the card, former UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, squares off with Colorado's, Cory Sandhagen, in a battle for the interim bantamweight title. Some notable fights on the card include Islam Makhachev vs. Dan Hooker, Khamzat Chimaev vs. Li Jingliang and Lerone Murphy vs. Makwan Amirkhani. Other fighters you may know fighting on Yas Island tomorrow night consist of Amanda Ribas, Alexander Volkov and Albert Duraev.

As always, you can find me on instagram or twitter to get my full card plays for free @_CobyW.

  1. Andre Petroski by Submission +250

In the second bout of the night, TUF 28 semifinalist, Andre Petroski, makes his return to the octagon after a successful victory in his debut. I'll start by saying this, play Petroski by finish at -110; I'll be doing so as well. However, the value on this play is insane. No way should we be getting odds like this on a solid grappler vs. a striker. Petroski is a Gracie BJJ practitioner and Hu Yaozong is predominantly a striker. Being about a 5/2 favorite against a guy who has been to decision once in five fights, is a recipe for finish in favor of the higher-level guy. It's hard to pass this one up, especially with a line like this. This fight will go one of two ways; Petroski takes down Hu Yaozong and uses his ground-and-pound until the ref jumps in or Petroski takes him down and grabs the nearest limb or neck and cranks until Hu Yoazong taps. THIS FIGHT STARTS AT LIKE 10:45am ET!

2. Duraev by Finish -140

Albert Duraev is quickly set for his UFC debut following a dominant DWCS victory. Duraev hasn't lost a fight since 2014 and two of his three losses have come to current UFC or Bellator fighters. In his 14 wins, 12 have come by way of finish, nine by submission. His opponent, Roman Kopylov, lost to Karl Roberson by submission back in 2019 and hasn't fought since. If you're a plus money fiend and don't want to play Duraev by Finish, you can play him by sub at +125. If you can get under 2.5 at a decent number, I'd put a significant amount on that however, I could find it lower than -170 (parlay that if you can).

3. Blachowicz by KO +100

Waking up this morning, I didn't think you'd be able to get the champ by KO at anything close to even money. However, I can understand why it is what it is considering Glover's hot streak and Jan's nine submission wins. The total is 2.5 rounds in this fight, Jan went the distance in his last fight and Glover has been KO'd three times. This will be more of a sweaty play than some of the others just because these are two tenured vets and it's a title fight however, I think it hits. Glover weathered Thiago Santos' early storm well in his last bout, but the Polish Power is different. Who would've though Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira would both be riding five-fight win streaks in 2021, let alone be fighting each other for the UFC light heavyweight championship. Jan has won three of his last five by KO and I think he makes it four of his last six. In the end, I'm riding with the Polish Power to bring us to the cashier.
