ORLANDO – The UCF Knights (3-2, 2-2) have arguably the best alternate uniforms in all of College Football. Winning the past three contests on #UCFinSpace day, the Knights came into this game needing a much-needed win. With a 51-34 win over the Tulane Green Wave (2-4, 0-4) on Saturday at the Bounce House, the Knights have now won their last 4 games when sporting the Citranout.
The nation’s leading offense came out firing and scored on their first drive of the game. Although trailing by four at the end of the first quarter, the Knights ran up 27 straight points in the second to take a 37-14 lead going into halftime. The Knights made sure not to allow the Green Wave to hang around for long, finishing with 689 yards of total offense.
Dillon Gabriel, Sophomore quarterback from Mililani, Hawaii came into this game as the nation’s leading passer, and he put on an absolute show. Gabriel threw for 422 yards on 26-of-40 with 5 TDs. Through the first 5 games, Gabriel has the most yards in a 5-game stretch since Patrick Mahomes in 2006, 2,178 passing yds & 20 TDs. Pretty good company you got there, kid.
As if watching Dillon Gabriel create plays wasn’t fun enough. Senior, Marlon Williams has been electric to start this season, leading the nation in Rec Yds (753), Receptions (54), Rec YPG (150.6), Rec PG (10.8), Williams finished with 9 catches for 174 yards and a career-high 3 TDs on the day.
The Knights will look to improve to 4-2 on the road this weekend as they take on the Houston Cougars. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+.
