John Rahm was playing some of the best golf of his life and was looking for his first win of 2021. He was 6 strokes up on 2nd place and with a course as tough as Muirfield Village plays, there was nothing standing in his way with only 18 holes to play right?
Wrong! The Coco came back with a vengeance this week and John Rahm tested positive for COVID-19 despite being asymptomatic and was forced to drop out of the tournament. This was tragic for Rahm and I am sure all the players feel bad it happened, but it opened the door for the rest of the field to get back in the race to win the tournament. Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa battled back and forth Sunday afternoon and after they both made clutch PAR putts on 18. Cantlay was able beat Morikawa in a 1 hole Playoff and win the 2021 Memorial. The question that a lot of people are asking, is if John Rahm will be able to play and play well at the U.S. open at Torrey Pines on June 17, which is just 2 days after Rahm’s 10-day quarantine ends. That will be one pissed off golfer, and if he is feeling well you may want to HAMMER Rahm to win the U.S. Open.
