Not going to lie, seeing Kyle Van Noy get cut HURT. I've been a huge fan since the day we signed him. His football IQ and leadership is off the charts! I promise you not having him around is going to hurt this football team. BUT that doesn't mean we're fucked.
Kyle is awesome on and off the field, but the NFL is a business. Let's face it, a 4 year $51M contract is a lot of money. By cutting Kyle, we can save a minimum of $9.75M and a maximum of $12.5M. That extra cap space is HUGE considering this years free agency. This move also leads me to believe that Andrew Van Ginkel will be getting a bigger paycheck.
Emotionally this move sucks, but from a business standpoint it makes plenty of sense. We hold plenty of draft capital, and more than enough cap space. I believe the moves we make come March 17th (first day of free agency) will make this decision a distant memory.
Also, Happy Birthday Tua !
