In the wild world of the 2020 NFL, the Jacksonville Jaguars have waived Running Back Leonard Fournette. Fournette was drafted 4th overall in the 2017, and was set up to be the workhorse Jacksonville needed. There were rumors of a potential trade for Fournette, but it turns out he will enter the waiver wire. This comes at a shock to most, with the season less then two weeks away. It’s unclear the destination for Fournette, but he will end up in a worse situation then before. All signs are pointing for a tank season by Jacksonville with getting rid of an All-Pro DE, and now this.
I’m looking to target Chris Thompson later in PPR drafts being the primary pass catcher out of the backfield. Right now, Ryquell Armstead is leading the depth chart. I don’t think Jacksonville will sign another back this year, so it’ll be interesting watching the battle between Armstead and Ozigbo. But other then a late round flyer on Chris Thompson, I’m staying away from this backfield.
The biggest injury news of the week comes from Philadelphia, rookie Wide Out Jalen Reagor will be sidelined four weeks with a shoulder injury. The already depleted wide receiving core has suffered another injury, creating more and more questions for this offense.
With hurt wide outs and Miles Sanders week to week, the first few games for Philadelphia could be difficult. I’m looking to target Desean Jackson in the later part of my draft because of pure upside. The Eagles are going to need someone to step up at the WR position, and i wouldn’t be surprised if Jackson can fill that roll for a decent amount of time.
I’m also growing more and more fond of Zach Ertz. Ertz is the type of player who doesn’t jump off of the page, but every year he produces. Ertz has been slipping in some drafts with more people flocking to Mark Andrews, so be on the lookout for solid value.
And to close out the weekend, we also had Cooper Kupp injure his ankle. While stated it wasn’t severe, it’s something to definitely keep in mind for a contract year.
