NBA Tip-Off: MVP, ROY and DPOY Predictions

The NBA is back! it seems like just yesterday we were watching the finals and now we are back to regular season ball with two great opening day games. I will give you some picks for those games and my picks for regular season awards.

MVP: Obviously KD & Giannis are front runners for MVP along with Luka all being below +550 odds to win the award. It would be too easy to choose one of them so I will give you my dark-horse pick tp win it. I think Trae Young has a legitimate chance to win the MVP award at +1550 the Hawks were one of the most surprising teams in the playoffs last year making it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Atlanta has a serious chance to make another deep playoff run and has a deep roster built to last the season. Trae Young is their best player and will average around 30 points per game if he can do what he was doing in Madison Square Garden during that run he will have a chance to overtake one of the big favorites at the top to win the award.

Rookie of the Year: This pick is not too outlandish and even though he was the second pick in the draft Jalen Green is favored on some books to win the award at the end of the year. Rookie of the Year is pretty hard to predict but I believe that Green has the best chance to showcase his talent out in Houston. Him and Kevin porter Jr. will be shooting the ball every-time they get down the court, his team may not win a lot of games but the second overall pick having the best rookie season out of his class.

Defensive Player of the Year: The obvious pick is Rudy Gobert here but again I do not want to be boring and just give you the favorite. I think a lot of people are sleeping on Jonathan Isaac who is +7000 to win the award which is nowhere near the top. He is one f the better defenders in the league but he has not played in over a year due to an ACL injury and most fans haven't seen him play much, if at all. Isaac is the best defender on a team that may shock some people this year if they stay healthy. The FSU grad will be assigned to the likes of KD Giannis etc. and will have the opportunity to showcase his length and defensive prowess. It may be premature to call him a Defensive Player of the Year candidate this early in his career but I wouldn't be surprised if he at least makes All-NBA Defensive team when the season is over.
