Ben Wallace; The Most Underrated Hall of Famer of All-Time

The Class of 2021 is being inducted tonight, with a great group of players including Chris Bosh, Paul Pierce, Chris Webber and even Bill Russell as a coach. Last but not least one of my favorite players of all-time, Ben Wallace is being inducted. Ben made history as the first undrafted player to ever make it to the coveted museum in Springfield Massachusetts. I visited this basketball mecca as a child and still have memories of the place that every basketball fan should go to at least once in their lifetime. Many casual fans may not even know who Ben Wallace is but he was one of the best defenders the league has ever seen and by far one fo the most underrated players the game has ever had. I was too young to watch him in his prime but the undersized center out of Virginia Union University helped the Pistons win a Championship in 2004 against a stacked Lakers team. His offensive game was not the best but he played his heart out every possession and they would not have won without his defense and rebounding in the finals against Shaq. The Pistons big man led the league in rebounding twice and blocks once, was a 4 time all-star, 5 time all-nba player and a 6 time all-defensive team selection. Wallace won The Defensive Player of the Year Award 4 times which ties him with Dikembe Mutombo as the only player in history who has won the award that many times. He does not get the respect he deserves as a player but I am glad he will be inducted tonight as it is well deserved.
