Houston Rockets (-2.5) V Oklahoma City Thunder (+2.5)
After the Rockets bullied the Thunder in game one and two, the Thunder finally got a win versus the Harden-less Rockets in overtime in game three. Game four comes around, and I see this one going a lot like game one and two. Not much of an analysis other than the fact that OKC has guarded the three ball horribly versus a team that really only relies on threes. Harden did not play much of a factor in game two as he shot horribly and other Rockets like Danuel House and Eric Gordon stepped up, showing that they don’t absolutely need Harden to beat the Thunder. Houston beats OKC again and takes a 3-1 series lead.
The pick: Rockets -2
Rockets 118- Thunder 107
Minnesota Twins (-115) V Cleveland Indians (+105)
Kenta Maeda comes into this game with a 3-0 record and 2.27 ERA. Today he faces a team that is simply not good against right handers, they hit .215 as a team and only have one starter who hits over .300, Franmil Reyes. The Indians are pitching Aaron Civale, who holds a 3-2 record and 2.91 ERA. The Twins are solid versus right handers, holding a .243 team batting average, and they have three starters hitting over .270 vs righties. Versus one of the best right handers in the game, I don’t see the Indians putting up many runs.
The pick: Twins -115
Twins 4- Indians 2
Reds (-135) V Brewers (+125)
Probably the best pitcher thus far, Trevor Bauer takes the mound today versus an underwhelming Brewers team. Bauer holds a 3-0 record and a 0.68 ERA. The Brewers hit .198 versus righties as a team. I’d be surprised to see the Brewers put up more than a run while Bauer is in. The Brewers are pitching lefty Brett Anderson, who holds a 1-2 record and 3.71 ERA. The Reds are not good versus lefties, hitting .214 versus lefties, but they should be able to put up some runs.
The picks: Brewers F5 TT U1.5, Reds -135
Reds 3- Brewers 1
Rangers (+130) V Athletics (-145)
Lance Lynn has been phenomenal this year, holding an ERA of 1.37 and a 3-0 record. The A’s are below average versus righties, hitting .220 as a team and having no one on their roster hitting over .280. Expect Lynn to have another great outing today. Another great pitcher takes the mound today in Jesus Luzardo, who holds a 2-0 record and 3.67 ERA. Against lefties, the Rangers hit .221 as a team, but have two starters who hit over .300. This game will be very low scoring as I’d be surprised to see either team score in the first five innings.
The picks: Rangers F5 +0.5, F5 U4
Astros (-155) V Angels (+140)
After getting swept by the Padres, the Astros look to bounce back versus the last place Angels. Lefty Framber Valdez takes the mound for Houston, he holds a record of 2-2 but has an ERA of 1.72. The Angels are horrible versus lefties, hitting .188 as a team. Pitching for the Angels is Patrick Sandoval who holds a record of 0-3 and an ERA of 5.40. The Astros are great versus lefties, holding a team batting average of .263. Expect them to pummel the Angels.
The pick: Astros -155
