The 2020 season just ended but it is never too early to start looking ahead, here are a few sleepers at every position that you should be eyeing in your draft.
Matthew Stafford- I love this Rams team and I think the sky's the limit for them, Stafford is the piece they needed and now that they got him, I think they are a top 3 team in the NFL. He won’t be throwing as much in LA, but he won’t have to force as many passes and he will be much more efficient as LA will have a solid running attack to keep defenses on their heels. Playing in a Qb friendly division and in an offense where they love to run the play action, I expect Stafford to thrive and finish as a top 10 QB in fantasy.
Jameis Winston- Quarterback was by far the hardest position to pick here, but I do see Jameis being a solid fantasy QB that is, if he actually gets a starting job. Because of the Saint’s financial issues, I expect Winston to be cut and he will sign elsewhere. If he does end up starting for wherever he plays, I’ll be all over him in drafts. In 2019, he had 33 TDs and led the league in pass yards. Yes, he did lead the league in picks but maybe a year playing behind hall of famer Drew Brees raised his football IQ. If he gets a starting job and a solid receiving core, I see Jameis being a top 12 fantasy QB and definitely worth a late round pick.
JK Dobbins- I loved Dobbins toward the end of the year and with Mark Ingram being cut, Dobbins was a no brainer here. He is the clear cut RB1 in a run heavy offense with a great o line, the only way I see him finishing outside the top 15 is if he gets injured, which is unlikely. Take Dobbins in every draft you can.
AJ Dillon- Another no brainer pick, that is if Aaron Jones leaves. Jones is a free agent and will more than likely demand a ton of money. The Packers spent a second round draft pick on Dillon and from his brief playing time in 2020, I believe the Packers will not re-sign Jones and give Dillon the keys to the Packers backfield. The man is a walking truck and will be running behind one of, if not the best offensive lines in the league. Will he put up Aaron Jones like numbers? Probably not. But book Dillon as a top 15 running back in 2021.
Robert Woods- Everyone knows Robert Woods, he’s been one of the most consistent receivers in fantasy, despite having a below average QB for all of his career. That all changes this year. Fantasypros currently has Woods ranked as WR17, which is incredibly low in my opinion. He will be a top 10 receiver and is an absolute steal if you can get him in the mid- late third round.
Antonio Brown- Currently rated as WR53 by fantasypros, I have Antonio Brown as my second sleeper. With the likely departure of Chris Godwin and Brown getting his life under control, this is a no brainer. Brady has transformed AB into a new player and he led the Buccaneers in catches since he joined the team. The touchdowns are there too as AB scored 6 TDs in his last 6 games. If the Buccaneers re-sign AB, which they absolutely should. I expect him to be at worst a top 25 receiver if Godwin stays, but if he leaves AB is a sure top 15 receiver next season, barring any off field drama.
Darnell Mooney- Not many people knew about Mooney coming into last year and he did not disappoint. In fantasy, he was not great but watching the games, you always knew where he was on the field as he showed flashes of greatness. With Allen Robinson probably leaving, I expect Mooney to take an increased role in the Bears offense and solidify himself as their WR1. If the Bears can snag a decent QB, I see Mooney being a top 30 receiver in fantasy, way above his current ranking for the 2021 season which is 65.
Michael Pittman Jr- Was awesome in college and did not disappoint in his rookie year. With a solid Qb and the possible departure of TY Hilton, Pittman is on the verge of a huge year. There is not one weakness in his game and is a threat in every part of the field, currently ranked as WR54, if all goes right for the Colts and they sign a solid QB, a top 25 finish is not a stretch for Pittman in my eyes.
Tyler Higbee- Another Rams player. Higbee was a sleeper to many people last year but obviously did not live up to the hype. I see him being used a lot next year after seeing Stafford bond with Lions tight end TJ Hockenson so well. The talent is there for Higbee. It's just on him to stay healthy now and if he can, a top 10 finish is very likely for him.
